dispense with words "limited" of company in Hong Kong
Hong Kong company limited by guarantee may be permitted to dispense the word “Limited” in name of the organisation name. This type of organisation/association must be established for the purposes of enhancement of education or training (like association or society), religion, relief of poverty or betterment for the community etc... and should be a company or organisation granted with license as approved charitable institution .
The approval process normally takes 9-15 months if the application is to be done at the same time with incorporation. It takes about 6 months if the application is done by an incorporated organisation. [approval time is dependent on the documents submitted and further explanations, if any]
The main criteria and requirement in the process / after the apprvoal :-
- the organisation must show its financial stability;
- no amendment of the memorandum and articles of association (M&As) once final and filed, unless approval is granted; and
- the organisation is not permit to have subsidiaries/associates, unless approval is granted.
