dispense with words "limited" services
Hong Kong company limited by guarantee may be permitted to dispense the word “Limited” in name of the organisation name. This type of organisation/association must be established for the purposes of enhancement of education or training (like association or society), religion, relief of poverty or betterment for the community etc... and should be a company or organisation granted with license as approved charitable institution .
For smooth application, it is our practice to have the company / organisation be incorporated and be approved as charitable insitution. After 6 months of operations, we may assist client in the application to dispense the word “Limited” in name of the organisation / company name. The approval process normally takes about 6 months. [approval time is dependent on the documents submitted and further explanations, if any]
The main criteria and requirements in the process include :-
- the organisation must show its financial stability;
- no amendment of the memorandum and articles of association (M&As) before prior approval by the government; and
- NOT permit to have subsidiaries/associates, unless approval is granted.
